Today we honor our two sons, Jayme and Mars and announce their successful completion of shamanic training with Amanita mushrooms. In the tradition of the ancient Soma Priesthood, they were born into a family of Soma Priest-Shamans and have been learning the sacred ways their whole lives. They have always been blessed by Soma and through mother's milk as babies consumed it approximately 2500 times before being weaned. They take it four times a year at Solstice and Equinox festivals and during their religious ecstasies on top of mountains, when they go into their twice yearly hermitage.

For their graduation they were given Amanita muscaria served in Hawk's Blue Ostrich Egg Chalice for the morning and afternoon ceremonies and a special Shaman's Blend of pleasantly harmonized Muscaria and Pantherina, prepared by their father and for the main celebration that evening.

The preparation of Soma is a Mystical Art, not an occupation. A true Soma shaman is a skilled picker and preparer of Amanita who turns the world's deadliest poisons into a safe sacrament and spiritual Medicine. Our sons learned these advanced secret Arts from their father, the High Priest of Soma and Grande Master Soma Shaman.

As part of their training to prepare them for their shamanic skills and responsibilities, each of our sons practiced years of intense austerities. Becoming a true Soma Shaman is a serious endeavor that entails spiritual, and mental self preparation, a long apprenticeship and hands on experience from picking, preparing and consuming Amanita thousands of times.

Our eldest son, Soma Shaman Jayme, is a skilled mushroom spotter, who led us to the first mushroom of the season when he was only 14 months old. His gentle touch is well loved by the mushrooms he helps to cleanse and prepare for storing and like his father, he has a gift for harmonizing Amanita for our special Nectar of Heaven Tea. Jayme has inherited the gift of prophesy and received a Tarot deck on his first birthday. He's been reading cards since he was old enough to hold them. He has a natural gift for receiving and projecting spiritual power in prayer and is our own beloved Alter Priest of Prayer for ceremonies.

Our youngest son Soma Shaman Mars, is an expert mushroom picker, always drawn to the perfect Amanita, and as a young child found the benevolent White Angel of Death, Amanita virosa which M.S.S. Hawk faithfully consumed in 1988. His kind and loving approach has made Mars a welcomed guest in the Amanita kingdom. He has an affinity with the animal kingdom as well and where ever we go he's certain to attract a few friends of nature. As a tot, he called himself "Magi" (name for ancient Persian Fire Priest) and is our own commanding Fire Priest, who lights the ritual fires for ceremonies.

When preparing the Soma sacrament, we, as Priest-Shamans are dealing with cosmic and earthly poisons that must be properly handled to insure a safe experience. You must have absolute control of your own mind to successfully control these powerful mushroom energies and receive the blessings. This is achieved by knowledge and spiritual training--strengthening the spirit to successfully transcend the death state during extreme austerities and become fit for Soma's supreme love and ecstasy.

Jayme and Mars are very special to Soma, and have spent their entire earthly existence beloved by the mushroom. Living a remarkable way of life, they walk in both worlds, the spiritual realm and the material world where they are savvy to the technology of this time as well. (and both help us with all things computer and electronically related.)

They are also modern bards who enjoy the simple things and bring joy to all who know them. The Great Spirit of Soma shines through Jayme and Mars. The Shaman brothers' entertaining storytelling around the fire was a highlight after the Graduation and a delightful way to wrap up the grand festivities after a day of Somafied Bliss!

Dedicating myself to God, family and Soma, I merged with the spirit of the mushroom twenty-eight years ago, and have been in constant communion ever since. With devotion, I officiate ceremonies, record our sacred secrets, assist Hawk on shaman's flights, help hunt, gather and prepare the Soma sacrament, and respectfully sacrifice the Holy gift of Soma with Hawk as Husband and Wife Sacrificers in harmonious accord.

On June 21st, Mars and a friend sailed to a secuded beach.

Hawk, Jayme, I and two of our associates from Arizona hiked down a cliff to meet them on the shore. Then Mars and I built an altar for Solstice and Mars prepared a sacred space within the altar.

At 10:06 am we held our Sacred Soma Solstice celebration. When we were finished, the Arizonans, Mars and his friend built a fire pit for a Soma ceremony to be held that evening.

That night, as the fire burned gloriously high, we chanted, "Hail Soma!" over a blazing caldron of wonderful Soma tea, having a grand time.

We had to return from our vacation early due to family health.

We had an invigorating time and met many nice people along the way. We explored sea caves at low tide, collected abalone shell, starfish that washed ashore and driftwood, and renewed some old aquaintances with Yurok and Hoopa Indian friends.

Most of all, we got to worship God through Nature.

Our ceremony was wonderful. As High Priestess of Soma I performed half the ceremony (the other half done by Hawk.) First Mars as Altar Priest lit the sacred fire, took the Holy Chalice and marched in a circle around the group, then he handed it to his brother Altar Priest Jayme, who handed it to me, and finally I handed it to Hawk, the High Priest of Soma, who dispensed the sacrament to all who were there.

Hawk and I will continue sessions when he's feeling better.

First we collected Abalone shells from the cold and stormy Sonoma/Mendocino coast in Northern California; now we're off to Humboldt to do some shell trading with the Hoopa and Yurok Indian craftsmen.

On the eighth, we're going to have a Soma ceremony in the mountains behind Willow Creek.

Our ultimate goal is the rainforests of Humboldt County and Washington Sate. We'll keep you updated!

Hawk's "Shaman's Bounty," his personal stash of dried Red Soma, picked and dried to perfection. Some were a foot wide (fresh). It takes a Master to keep their great spirit strong.

It is our custom to herald in the new seasons with a toast of Soma Pavamana. We recently held our Spring Equinox Celebration of Life on a secluded Northern California beach with some Friends of Soma. The Blessed Spirit of Soma flowed through everyone, joining us in a happy joyful union of Friendship.

After a delightful day of beach combing and picnicking, we joined around a driftwood fire to begin our late afternoon ceremony.

At the triumphant sound of ten people blowing conch shells in unison, we raised our goblets of Red Soma tea (Amanita muscaria) as Hawk and I opened the rites by invoking the Goddess of Spring.

We received some very nice letters about our update concerning the effect on Soma due to Global Warming and we want to thank everyone for their kind words and Soma offerings. :)

As chronicled in the Vedas, The devoted Soma Priesthood has an ancient tradition of partaking of the Soma sacrament in three daily libations. As High Priest and High Priestess of Soma, we follow the daily tradition as much as possible, so we must gather a lot of Soma.

This privilege is reserved for the learned Priesthood; other users are not meant to consume Soma daily. Traditionally, to receive Pure Soma, those who could afford the exclusive service would pay The Soma Priests to provide specially prepared Soma delivered to their homes in grand style, usually for special occasions.

Amanita is a blessing that many people can enjoy, but most people on Earth will never consume enough to experience the deepest secrets of Soma, as the Priesthood.

Through our work, we've taken the time to bring some of these sacred secrets to you, so you don't have to go to the extremes required to learn them for your own journey. This is our gift to Soma, and those who seek it.

We earned the Priesthood through our years of love and devotion to Soma and our dedication to the Sacred Laws. To harmonize with the Spirit of Soma at the High priesthood level takes a lot of strength and discipline.

We're living in a new world order set by nature, not man, for damage to Earth by man has forced nature to respond with strange weather patterns.

Global warming is taking its toll and can no longer be ignored. Al Gore's documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth" provides some helpful visual aids for the layperson to understand, and even the oil giant, Exxon has admitted Global Warming does indeed exist [external link].

In 2002 we felt the effects and reported a disturbing change on our website. Many of our Amanita muscaria patches were diminished or had completely disappeared. The drier climate as well as logging had upset the unique environment required for mushrooms to grow abundantly.

As nature lovers, we've spent a lot of time outdoors and have always tended our Amanita patches with reverence and care, selectively picking those that are ready, and not over-picking an area to encourage the mushrooms to reproduce fruitfully each year.

Though storms can decimate trees, we've witnessed more damage done by people. Manmade fires, heavy machinery digging up the ground and logging destroys the surrounding host tree's mycelium network and Amanita will grow there no more.

This year has been especially dry--there was no rainfall to speak of in Northern California in November, December and January. The once emerald mountains we drove through on our winter journeys are now dry and brown, and once salmon filled rivers have become a murky trickle.

We've never seen such a drastic decline in the amount of Amanita.

Though we were grateful as always for the exceptional quality of Soma, this year there was only a third the usual harvest. Soma needs clean air, rain and healthy trees to flourish. If things don't change, we'll see less of these magical mushrooms every year.

Not everyone can afford a hybrid car or solar-powered homes, but cleaner, greener living can be achieved in many ways to help the animal and the plant kingdom thrive as God intended, so that the world can once again be blessed with flourishing gardens of Soma.

The Red hath mounted to his place; to Indra goes the mighty juice: He settles in his firm abode.

• His firm abode: Heaven

This verse is clear to us, because we know Soma. Those who claim the identity of Soma is unknowable don't have the scholarship or Spirit to understand the identification of Soma within the Vedas. The Rig Veda that we've been reading for the last 25 years has five definitive references to Soma as Amanita.

How could these people "know" the identity of Soma? They rely on the useless speculation of a small cult of buffoons of idealogy, and professional disbelievers who claim that no definitive identification can ever be made--because they say so. Endless speculation is the rule of their realm.

We rely on mystical communion with Soma for our inspired understanding.

In the Rig Veda, the sacred hymns of praise, at the end of verse 9 it states:

Thou, even in secret, storest hymns.

In the Vedas, the hawk brought Soma from Heaven to Earth, and now in our time, Hawk is bringing the Spirit of Soma back to Earth, when we need it most.

In 1979, I told Hawk he was the Mushroom Messiah of this age, who would one day deliver the true message about Amanita to the world.

He's the real McCoy--while others were just talking about the mushroom and debating the identity of Soma, he was living outdoors as a hermit, eating raw Amanita and communing with God.

So, who is more suited to speak for Soma; one filled with ideas about Soma or one filled with the light of Soma?

Until Hawk, no one had spoken for the mushroom for thousands of years--not since Zarathustra laid down the law against the urophiles and fermenters of Haoma (Persian Soma) of his time.

Hawk was born to eat Amanita. Not just anyone could (or should) consume as much mushroom, but he is a rare soul with the genetics, strong constitution and iron will to control the power of the mushroom into harmony and receive the blessings.

His pure spiritual harmony with Soma goes beyond the expertise of a Master Shaman, that's only part of it, for he has obtained True Union with God and as a Soma Shaman Mystic, he knows the Spirit of Soma at the highest level.

That he's risked his life with extreme amounts of the deadliest mushrooms on Earth, transcending death* on many occasions to attain the advanced sacred wisdom is a testimony to his special friendship with Soma.

(*Not as in a simulation of pseudo-illusionary death by hallucination like the vine and other substances, but the actual physical death state where the body is dying from massive amounts of poisonous Amanita toxins and the spirit must fight to return to the land of the living.)

Since 1999, we've been diligent in our efforts to debunk the myths and lies and reveal the truth about Amanita. We've literally provided an unprecedented "how to" for Sacred Soma, so others can find their way too.

So, if you're "curious about Amanita muscaria, have seen them growing nearby, dreamed about them, or feel drawn to the red mushroom"--like so many others, do yourself a favor, quit yappin' and dreamin' and get off your fanny! Get Soma 101 and find out what you're missing!

We've done our best to put out the wake up call and set things right--for our beloved Soma's sake. We don't try to confuse people with cryptic B.S. nonsense. We give crystal clear instruction and guidance in terms anyone can understand.
