Happy Autumn Solstice!

We celebrated the Autumn Solstice on the misty coast, where we feasted on "golden" -- Amanita Pantherina -- that we found in a magical garden of soma perfection.

We collected some highly spiritual mushrooms for our Solstice Brew and we were delighted to find a lone Amanita Muscaria.

It wasn't ready for consumption right then so we let it grow in peace until later on.

Hawk has a gift for communicating with the Spirit of the individual mushrooms and has respect and patience for picking them when they are willing. It's a long forgotten skill once used by ancient Soma Priests.

Harmonious picking is a key for the Blessings of Soma. :)

Hawk, after a ten day spiritual sojourn and fast on top of Mt. Shasta, has been ordered by Fate through our bible Tarot to fast every other day until he dies.

He has been told this is God's will. As a soma priest, Hawk is preparing himself by fasting as his own sacrifice to God, he will be returning to heaven.

November 1st, 2001

According to the August 2001 issue of Wired magazine, excerpted from Intoxicating Minds: How Drugs Work by Prof. Ciaran Regan, the exchange rate among Siberia's Finno-Ugrian tribes for one fly argaric mushroom is three to four reindeer.

This really puts into perspective the true value of Amanita among Siberian shamans who have used and worshipped this mushroom for thousands of years. The exchange rate among Siberian shamans is not based on gold but based on Amanita as the prevailing commodity of value.

I guess that means we're rich! :)

Soma surprise! We hit the jackpot when Hawk found these Muscaria beauties while collecting some Pantherina. Soma is so inspirational it brings out the best in you. If you write, all blocks seem to disappear and pure creativity flows from a fountain of good ideas.

When Trees Attack!

One of the occupational hazards of mushroom gathering. Yes, we were in the van as this 20 foot long "windowmaker" (tree limb) speared our van, breaking off a six foot piece in the hood. Luck was with us, we're A-OK.. and we got some great shrooms, too!

Update! August 8th, 2001

We're having a great summer, enjoying both sunny mountain rivers and the misty coastal regions.

For the past two years, we've been on a mushroom expedition, collecting and eating many variaties of Amanita year round. We've travelled nearly 50,000 miles, from windy coastal and mountain roads in the Pacific Northwest to hectic Southern California coastal freeways, hunting the wild Amanita. :)

On this inspirational trip to world class nature areas, we made our movie and are currently working on our book, "The Truth about Amanita". Stay high!

Update! May 4th, 2001

We spent some wild windy days on the California North coast and to add to the electricity we were fortunate in finding "Golden Soma" (Pantheria), yellows and browns. We came across many wind and solar dried specimens as well as fresh -- for munching and tea. :)

Though Amanita Muscaria is the safest variety for use, "yellow and browns" are great but are not to be attempted by amateurs. Let me repeat this: NOT to be taken by amateurs, unless Russian roulette is appealing. The potency and intensity of these mushrooms vary greatly depending on the geographical location as well as other circumstances. For instance, San Fransisco "yellows" are so negatively charged and toxic, that it's difficult to trust them and great caution must be taken, even by Hawk who has avoided them for many years. This is serious business.

Hawk is the world's foremost authority on the preparation and use of Amanita and has the skills obtained through the Soma Priesthood to neutralize negative energy which can eventually effect the energy of the mushroom and cause a bad trip.

Even a moderate dose of a negatively charged pantherina can cause convulsions from its high wire vibration. They must be "tamed" and Hawk is the Emperor of these Golden Lions!

The trip can be incredibly intense and fills you with high power and energy. It's like a infusion of spiritual speed from God. But it energy. It's like a infusion of spiritual speed from God. But it doesn't destroy the nervous system and age your body or break your mind like low vibe speed such as meth, Soma is pure Light.

Hawk and I are trying to revive the art of the Soma experience and show people that Soma is the ultimate divine high.

Hawk has been told by his Holy Spiritual Counsellor, the Spirit of God, to extend his every-other-day fast another two months, this being the last extention. He will then have fasted in exact 24 hour time periods, 11 months out of 22.

As always, he follows the holy diciplines with a willing heart and the blessings of Soma.

Sadly, our beloved Red Angels are gone until next season, but we're still traveling and now collecting abalone shells for Soma inspired visionary jewelery as well as doing some writing and art. At least we've still got some excellent Soma tea to keep us happy.

A few words from Venus:

With only a few days left until the 18th month mark of his every- other-day fast, Hawk was spiritually advised to extend it an additional two months.

He is willingly, obediently sacrificing his own flesh (through fasting) to attain a high spiritual level of consciousness. It's brought him closer to God and the spirit of Soma. I told my husband years ago that he was truly the Mushroom Messiah and would one day bring the message of the essence of Soma back to the world.

Update! January 16th, 2001

Update message from Hawk:

"I have been fasting every other day for 17 months and have used Soma three times daily as a sacrament, painkiller, appetite suppressant and energizer. It has literally carried me over the rough times. Soma is the best high on Earth."

Update message from Venus:

"We've been very busy with video production and now we're traveling. It's that glorious time of year when we are able to collect and feast on fresh Amanita Muscaria every day and brew up our store of Soma tea by moonlight at night. My dear husband is nearing the end of his 18 month every other day fast and his discipline and strength never cease to amaze me. For this is not being done under the care of a physician or comfort of an ashram. Each day he arises before dawn and walks in the redwoods or on beaches for 2 hours before starting our day of collecting. On Jan 7th he took an ocean bath in the cold sea for over 20 minutes, sometimes immersing his head, with no wetsuit, in 10 foot waves with a terrible undertow. Soma has kept him going and given him renewed inspiration and spiritual power. Hail Soma!"
